One of the best tools in an artist's kit is the humble and versatile bubble wrap. It protects items from breaking, creates patterns in paint, and makes noises (snap!).

Simplicity is the removal of the useless and the unnecessary--source unknown

  1. I remember thinking that I had discovered the bubble wrap technique. I was attending a mixed media workshop in 2000. As I got out of my car at the workshop site I noticed a piece of bubble wrap stuck in the chain link fence. Eureka, I thought; that would make great texture. I experimented during the workshop. Later I found a book by mixed media artist Pat Dews; she had been using the technique for years.
